Meet the Doctor

Hi, I'm Dr. Eric Salazar, thank you for visiting Level Acupuncture and Wellness.  I am excited to assist you on your journey to better health and harmony.  Besides my extensive studies in Oriental Medicine, I also have a background as a certified exercise physiologist, a group fitness instructor, yoga instructor, pilates mat instructor, and dancer/dance instructor with additional training in Reactive Neuromuscular Training.  I have worked for New Mexico Sports and Wellness, Defined Fitness, The Sports Club, YMCA as a trainer and/or group instructor, Turquoise Trail Physical Therapy as a physical therapy tech, and Central New Mexico Community College as a group fitness and dance instructor.

I was first introduced to Oriental Medicine when I was working as a PT tech, we had a Doctor of Oriental Medicine that would come into our clinic to see patients.  It was a few months later when I tore a hamstring that I decided to give acupuncture a try, after that first treatment, I was hooked.  After a few treatments my hamstring was healed, I was back in my splits and able to make it to a huge audition a month later.  Although I didn't get picked, I was amazed at how well my body held up from having torn a muscle only 4 weeks earlier.

My next experience with acupuncture came after I was heading home from having taught a yoga class and was rear ended by a minivan and pushed into the car in front of me which resulted in a rotated pelvis.  After 6 weeks of acupuncture and chiropractic medicine my body was back and I was able to move the way my body was used to moving.  After a few years my job at CNM ended and I moved to Denver to pursue dance full time.

As life brought me back to New Mexico, I sat thought about what I wanted to do in life.  It was then that I realized that I have a love and a gift to help others to move and to feel better.  I knew the power of acupuncture from my past experiences and it seemed like a natural fit to my prior education, training, and experience.  I then enrolled in school and never looked back.  While in school I was able to learn not only Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but also Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM), and Japanese Meridian Style.

My goal is to help you achieve optimum health and wellness. Through working with my patients I have seen the impressive results that acupuncture and Chinese medicine can have. I am grateful to be able to share the benefit of my extensive education with you. My background includes training not only in acupuncture, but in a wide array of Chinese medicine modalities as well as a back ground in various movement disciplines. I am a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine by the state of New Mexico and recognized by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine, and a recognized Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).   I am happy that I get to share my knowledge with you and help you on your journey to a more harmonious life.
